Honda Amaze gets 5 stars in BNCAP: Detailed results of key rival Maruti Dezire

The new third generation Honda Amaze has achieved a 5-star rating for adult safety and 4-star rating for child safety under the India NCAP crash-test programme. The tests were conducted on the V CVT, VX CVT and ZX MT variants, all of which were produced in India and weighed 1,241 kg during evaluation.

Honda Amaze crash test: key details

The Amaze performed strongly in all key BNCAP assessment categories. In adult occupant protection, it scored 14.33 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 14.00 out of 16 in the side impact test, giving it an impressive overall score of 23.81 out of 24 in dynamic protection. Honda’s use of dual front airbags, side thorax airbags, curtain airbags, seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, ESC and ISOFIX mounts helped provide a high level of safety to the sedan. In the official scoring system, the Amaze scored 28.33 out of 32 for adult safety.

Child occupier protection was another strong area. The Amaze received a perfect 12/12 for child restraint system installation and high dynamic scores for both child dummies – 7.81/8 for a 3-year-old child and 8/8 for an 18-month-old child. The ISOFIX system with leg supports ensures that rear-facing child seats remain stable during accidents, which is important for the safety of infants and toddlers. Overall, the car scored 40.81 out of 49 points for child safety under BNCAP.India NCAP follows the same procedures as Global NCAP and Euro NCAP, evaluating vehicles through frontal and side impact tests as well as child seat compatibility checks. Honda Amaze is a direct rival of Maruti Suzuki Dezire in the sub-4 meter sedan category. The Dezire was earlier given a 5-star rating by BNCAP.
