Tata Motors’ reborn Sierra comes with a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, ex-showroom, which puts it directly in the territory of one of India’s most popular midsize SUVs: the Hyundai Creta. While Tata Motors has not revealed variant-wise pricing for the model, here’s how the base-spec trim stacks up against the Hyundai Creta E, the base-spec variant of the model.
Tata Sierra Smart+ vs Hyundai Creta E: Features
The entry-level Smart+ trim of the Sierra gets bi-LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs and tail-lamps, all-wheel disc brakes, rear AC vents, six airbags, an electronic parking brake. It also gets electrically adjustable ORVMs with indicators, four power windows, a front sliding armrest, rear sunshade, steering wheel adjustability and a Type-C fast charger. Safety comes from a list of electronic assists like ESP, VDC, hill-assist, traction control, ABS with EBD and several advanced stability modules.
The Hyundai Creta features projector headlamps, LED DRLs, six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill-start assist, a tyre-pressure monitor, ISOFIX mounts, a digital instrument cluster and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. It includes features like front and rear armrest, rear AC vents, 60:40 split rear seat with two-step recline, powered tailgate release and tilt-telescopic steering. However, the Creta still comes with 16-inch steel wheels in the base variant, while the Tata Sierra comes with 17-inch wheels in the base-spec variant.

Where the Sierra excels is in its overall size. The new Sierra is 4,340 mm long, 1,841 mm wide and 1,715 mm high, riding on a 2,730 mm long wheelbase. It also gets 205 mm ground clearance and 622-litre boot. The Hyundai Creta is slightly smaller, measuring 4,330 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm and ground clearance of 190 mm. It has a boot space of 433 litres.
